Get to Know… Eowyn

Submitted by on March 25, 2012 – 12:00 pm8 Comments

Steph (Eowyn) is a voracious reader who does not remember a time when she wasn’t engrossed in a book in fact she is often reading two or three. She enjoys a broad range of books including Fiction, Paranormal, Thrillers, Urban Fantasy, Women’s Issues, Historical and Spiritual Novels. Steph believes that reading changes lives and credits her love of books for success in her own life. Since she doesn’t know a stranger she enjoys discussing the latest novel she is reading with anyone who will listen. Steph dreams of writing her own novel in the future and speaking around the world on women’s issues. She currently resides in North Carolina with her husband and cat (Mirabelle).

What is your current state of mind?
I’m in the midst of coming to terms with the fact that I can’t control the outcome of one of the most important things in anyone’s life, whether or not we have a child.

What is your favorite occupation (way of spending time)?
My favorite is engaging conversation with friends and strangers. I love an intellectual discussion whether I agree or disagree. I enjoy learning new ideas and perspectives from others. Of course this is closely if not equally followed by reading. Nothing compares to being lost in a good book.

Alice Paul

What historical figure do you most identify with?
I’m not sure about identifying with but I would have to say the historical figure who I would most like to be like is Alice Paul who fought for women’s rights.

Which living person do you most admire?
I would have to say my mother in law. She is a strong female role model and is always supportive.

Who is your favorite fictional hero? Heroine?
Wow, we read lots of books but if I have to choose just one I would say my latest one is Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She is brave, strong, and willing to fight. My favorite as a teenager was Scarlett O’Hara she also is brave, strong and willing to fight for what she wants. Ok, I know it’s two but I couldn’t resist.
Hero, maybe Gandalf, I love Gandalf.

Who are your real-life heroes?
Women who face their circumstances, rise above them and encourage and fight for others to have a better life.

What is your most treasured possession?
My engagement ring, it was made with love my one of my dearest friends and it was given with love from my husband.

When and where were you happiest?
I am always the happiest walking the streets of Paris with my husband. My heart soars just thinking about it, there is magic in Paris.

Eowyn in Paris!

What is your most obvious characteristic?
Perseverance, I do not give up easily.

What is the trait you most deplore (hate) in yourself?
I worry too much.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
People who are just plain mean to others.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Books, books and oh yeah eBooks.

What is your favorite journey?
These past few years I have been on a journey of discovery and change. I am truly discovering who I am and what I believe and this is the best journey.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
My thighs, no matter what I do they are always big.

What do you consider the most over-rated virtue?
I really don’t have an answer for this one, sorry.

On what occasion do you lie?
When someone’s feelings will be hurt if I tell them the truth.

What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is that I will die without making a difference for others in this world.

Which words or phrases do you most over-use?
Right now it would be “I’m tired”.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wouldn’t stress as much about everything.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement will be when I walk down the aisle in May 2012 receiving my Bachelor’s Degree after working full time and going to school full time for the past two years.

Where would you like to live?
If you are asking about another country I think I would enjoy living in Paris. If you are asking about anywhere in the US, I would like to live near DC.

What is the quality you most admire in a man? In a woman?
I most admire someone that is willing to say what they think of course they must have a reason to back up what they think.
In women I am a bit harder, I admire women who don’t try to knock other women down and instead lift them up.

What is it you most dislike?
I really get irritated when people can’t give you a valid argument for why they believe something. Really people, I don’t have to agree with you but at least give a reason for your statement.

What do you value most in your friends?
Honesty and their willingness to give me hug when I am down, cyber-hugs count from all my online friends too.

The actual Mirabelle!

How would you like to die?
Peacefully and without knowing it.

If you were to die and come back as a person or an animal, what do you think it would be?
Without hesitation, I would want to be a cat. My cat Mirabelle has the best life; she sleeps in the sun all day and watches birds. I wish I could sleep in the sun all day.

If you could choose an object to come back as, what would you choose?
I would have to say a tree; they are so majestic and have grace and strength.

What is your motto (words you live by or that mean a lot to you)?
“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.”
~Edward Everett Hale

Who has been the greatest influence on you?
My husband and my fellow Eric Lovers both have expanded my thinking thus expanding my horizons.
