After a long time away from reading erotica anthologies, it appears as if I have been bitten by that bug again. My craving for erotica writing has been insatiable, so has my hunger for all things sweet. So it only made sense that I check out a book entitled Sex and Candy: Sugar Erotica by the magnificent Rachel Kramer Bussel.

Having recently read Spanked: Red Cheeked Erotica, I was certain that Sex and Candy would be the perfect way to sate my hunger for sweets and seduction. The rainbow swirl lollipop on the cover was definitely a foreshadowing of the vast array of indulgences that would be revealed within this twenty-two story anthology, each author and story bringing something succulent and sexy to the table in as many different ways as there are flavors of candy.

Sex and Candy: Sugar Erotica is a mouthwatering and tantalizing anthology that is certainly a feast for the eyes. Writer/editor Rachel Kramer Bussel has compiled twenty-two stories that will surely help you to get your sugar fix. The fun begins with Six Layers of Sweetness and comes to a close with Cupcake. By the end of this novel you’ll be hungry for sweet treats and sweet release.

As I have stated in previous anthology reviews, Stephen King once said that short story anthologies were like grab bags, sometimes you get fantastic stories and sometimes you get duds. Sex and Candy: Sugar Erotica is a fun and fascinating erotica anthology that keeps you flipping page after page with anticipation. Of course, some stories are more tantalizing and sizzling than others but overall this was a magnificent anthology.

Each story and author brings something different to the plate and each have the ability give you a sugar rush and make you hunger for more. There is even a historical piece in this anthology entitled Forbidden Fruit and Honey by Salome Wilde.

This is a book that I literally could not put down and stayed up past my bed time to finish. I even spent my Fourth of July holiday reading it! This book allows you to indulge without the calories and is a surefire way to light your burner. My personal favorites in this anthology include Rosehips are Red by Cheyenne Blue, Other Girls by R. Gay, Green Chili Chocolate by Bianca James, Turkish Delight by L. Elise Bland, Sugar Mama by Rachel Kramer Bussel, and Two Scoops of Gelato by Sage Vivant. This anthology is marvelous. My only problem with this book was that it contained several very noticeable misspelled words. With heat levels that range from mild to wild Sex and Candy: Sugar Erotica has something for everyone. However, if you have an aversion to foul language and graphic depictions of sexual acts this book may not be for you. But just like sampling candy, you never know if you will like it until you give it a taste.

Chrissy fell in love with books at an early age. It all started with Judi Barrett’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. At the tender age of five she decided that she wanted to be a writer. Later, she graduated to books like A Wrinkle in Time, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and the Goosebumps series, participating avidly in her school’s Book It program. High school brought on new challenges and loves. She began writing for the school’s newspaper and literary magazine. The works of Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and Shirley Jackson quickly overran her bookshelves. But when Chrissy was introduced to the world of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance, a grand love affair was set in motion. She is an avid reader of romance, urban fantasy, horror, erotica, and cozy mysteries. After working for the city library for six years and being surrounded by the works of greatly admired authors, she decided to devote her life to writing full time and hasn’t looked back since. When she is not devouring book after book, Chrissy loves to cook, bake, volunteer at the local animal shelter, and feed her addiction for horror movies.
