It’s Christmastime in Jubilee, Texas, but Lissette Moncrief is having a hard time celebrating . . .

Especially after she accidentally smashes her car into Rafferty Jones’s pick-up truck. Yes, he’s a whole lot of handsome—from the tips of his boots to the top of his Stetson. But he’s no Christmas present. Lissy’s not about to let herself get whisked away by his charming ways and words . . . only to watch him drive away in the end.

But what Lissy doesn’t know is Rafferty’s in town just to meet her—and to give her a share in a windfall that doesn’t rightly belong to him. At first, he just wants to do his good deed and get out. But one look at this green-eyed beauty has him deciding to turn this into a Christmas to remember . . . making promises he’s determined to keep—whether she believes in them or not.

It’s that time of year again! I love Christmas and when I’m frazzled at work and always short on time I look for books that will help me escape for a little while. Of course when that book contains a super hot and sexy cowboy it just makes my me time that much better. I have enjoyed Lori Wilde’s writing for some time now and have to admit I’m always nervous when I pick up a favorite author’s latest. Thankfully my fears were groundless this time around.

Lori Wilde delivers a rich full story about second chances. Lissy Moncrief is a widow struggling to find herself after losing her husband to war. Her son has just been diagnosed with a life changing medical condition and she is struggling to keep her head above water after she has been denied her husband’s death benefits. I could relate to Lissette on more than one occasion. Of course I always try to see something in a character I can relate to with Lissette it was harder for me. We aren’t anything alike (well except we both agree cowboys are hot) and to be honest I wasn’t sure I liked her all that much. But as I read her journey and remembered what it was like to be a young mother I began to open myself up to her and what she was dealing with. I did find her a bit stubborn but I can work with stubborn.

Rafferty Jones is one cute cowboy. Yes he has issues. He’s a cowboy with a past of course he has issues! But what is so dog gone sexy about his is once he set’s his mind to something he gets it done. I love the way Ms. Wilde wrote his relationship with Kyle, Lissette’s son. It’s bound to make any red blooded female melt a little. Rafferty Jones is definitely a cowboy you would want to cuddle up with on a cold Texas winter night.

I also am fan of food in books. A Cowboy For Christmas is laced with cowboy themed pastries and goodies offered up by pastry Chef Lissette. It’s just the right addition to a great holiday story, it really brings at the homey and comfy quality of the season.

All, in all I highly recommend A Cowboy For Christmas for you holiday TBR. It’s got romance, a little bit of angst, some fantastic recipes for our bakers out there, and oh um some pretty steamy love scenes too.
