Today the dolls are so happy to welcome author Jess Michaels! Jess Michaels began writing full-time in 1999 after being encouraged by her husband to follow her dream. In 2003, she sold her first novella to Red Sage Press, an erotic historical romance about an Egyptian tomb and a very sexy curse. Since then she has published (or has contracted to publish by the end of 2013) 37 novels and novellas under three different pen names with several major publishers, small presses and via self-publishing. Her erotic historical romances have been national bestsellers and won awards from booksellers and readers.

In 2011, she and her husband moved to Tucson, AZ. There she enjoys hiking in the beautiful desert, spending time with her nephews, designing jewelry (which you can buy here), reading and spending time with her awesome husband and cats.

Jess Michaels is a pseudonym for author Jenna Petersen (historical romance) and author Jesse Petersen (urban fantasy). Her latest book For Desire Alone in now available!

What is your current state of mind?
Slightly overwhelmed.

What is your favorite occupation (way of spending time)?
Walks in the desert (when it’s not so flipping hot).

What historical figure do you most identify with?
I’ve always admired Queen Victoria. I’m not sure I identify with one specifically, but I have lots I admire.

Which living person do you most admire?
My Mom.

Who are your real-life heroes?
Soldiers, firemen, police officers. Anyone who runs toward trouble rather than away. And kids who are standing up to their bullies and saying, “no more”.

What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding ring.

When and where were you happiest?
Anywhere that my husband is at.

What is your most obvious characteristic?
Sense of humor.

What is the trait you most deplore (hate) in yourself?
Impatience.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Intolerance.

What is your greatest extravagance?
We love to travel, if we had extra money we’d splurge on that, I think.

What is your favorite journey?
We went to China in 2008 and I’d love to go back again.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I’m not fond of my crooked teeth.

What do you consider the most over-rated virtue?
Beauty.

On what occasion do you lie?
Normally just to spare someone’s feelings. I try hard not to lie.

What is your greatest fear?
Failure.

Which words or phrases do you most over-use?
My brother-in-law would probably say “I know, right?” I seem to overuse that one. Don’t know where I got it.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’d love to be less self-critical. I’m working on it.

Where would you like to live?
Where I do live, Tucson, AZ.

What is the quality you most admire in a man? In a woman?
I admire strength in both men and women. Emotional strength, especially.

What is it you most dislike?
Bullying.

What do you value most in your friends?
Loyalty.

How would you like to die?
Peacefully after a long and full life.

If you were to die and come back as a person or an animal, what do you think it would be?
I wouldn’t mind being a house cat. Sleep all day, get cleaned up after, seems like a good deal.

If you could choose an object to come back as, what would you choose?
Maybe a camera. You see a lot, you make people happy.

What is your motto (words you live by or that mean a lot to you)?
Every little thing is gonna be all right (Bob Marley)

Who has been the greatest influence on you?
My husband. He is the best man I know and very brave. I think being around him just makes me a better person.
