Interview with Laura Kaye + SUPER North of Need giveaway!
Hi Everyone, big thanks to Paperback Dolls for hosting me today!
I am a multi-published author of paranormal, contemporary and erotic romance, and my hot, heartfelt stories are all about the universal desire for a place to belong.
I am the author of the bestselling contemporary romance HEARTS IN DARKNESS and the bestselling and award-winning paranormal romance FOREVER FREED (NJRW Golden Leaf Award for Best Paranormal of 2011), as well as an erotic romance novella, JUST GOTTA SAY. My fourth book, contemporary fantasy romance NORTH OF NEED, is the first in the 4-book Hearts of the Anemoi series. I live in Maryland with my husband, two daughters, and cute-but-bad dog, and appreciate my view of the Chesapeake Bay every day.
Thanks for reading,
Laura Kaye

No, I’m not lonely over the holidays even though I spend most of it by myself since my sister works holidays and my other family is out of state. I get an extra 4 days off which I use to read and catch up on movies and tv so it goes fast.
I can never get Lonley over the holidays with my boys at home. We try and do Christmas related items when it gets closer to Christmas. And we always go to mo to see family. I do however miss my grandparents more when it comes to thanksgiving and Christmas. I am not sure why? I guess it’s just knowing they’re not here to see my kids grow up and spend holidays with us.
I don’t get lonely over holidays, I only need a good book not to feel alone.
Hi guys! Thanks so much for commenting! I was so confused about why everyone was talking about being lonely at the holidays, and then I finally thought to click the blog comment instructions! LOL I think the holidays *can* be lonely. It’s hard not to think about my Mom, who died six years ago unexpectedly and who was a huge Christmas fanatic. But other family and friends (the family you choose!) help balance that out!
Keep those comments coming! :)
What a great interview!I loved your questions, so different from the normal author interview!
I agree, Tamara! That’s what made this one fun! Thanks for commenting! :)
I’m not usually lonely because I’m usually home with family. When I get lonely otherwise though, a good book or a good song cheers me up.
Laura, Congratulations on the new release and thank you for doing our Paperback Proust!
Thanks Day! I’m so happy to be here! :)
There are always so many people around that I don’t get lonely. It just gets very chaotic. I was more apt to get lonely at the holidays before I was married, but these days it’s all I can do to find a few minutes alone come mid-December!
I never get lonely over holidays. My kids always show up for at least a little bit of time and the way I look at it they have lives to live :).
I am always with my immediate family during the holidays so I rarely ever feel lonely during the holidays. Not college football season is a different thing all together. LoL
I do get lonely over the holidays because my kids can’t always come visit but I just spend time with the family that is close and that always makes me feel better :)
I don’t get lonely ove the holidays because my family always gets together. It is harder to find a quiet place, lol.
I’m always surrounded by my immediate family at Christmas; I wish I could also be near my Dad and siblings but we simply live too far. But I’m never lonely!
I don’t get lonely.I have lots of family around so its always hectic around here.
I really appreciate how much you’re sharing about your holidays! Great comments, guys!
I’m happy as long as I have books to read, no matter when & where I’m at.
I get acne too! So much for being something that one only suffers in one’s teens. I left that age long long ago!
Seriously, Linda! LOL
I used to get lonely sometimes when I was single, but that was a long time ago. Whenever that happened, I’d lose myself in a book, of course. Now even if my spouse isn’t around, I’ve got lots of friends so if I spend the day by myself, it’s by choice.
yeah, sometimes I get lonely over the holidays. My grandpa died around Thanksgiving. My son always gets me out of my funk, everything is still so new to him, I love experiencing everything with him, through the eyes of child. He is my life.
Thanks!
That’s very sweet, Anne. My kids do the same for me.
I don´t get lonely, i like being alone or with my mr. I´ve lost a lot of familymembers the last years so we´ve gone from being 10 around holidays to 5. I´m not so bothered anymore on how to celebrate or what to give, the important thing is to hug the people you love and share a happy meal together.
best wishes, Linda
The holidays can be frustrating – especially if the in-laws are visiting, LOL – but never lonely with our two kids around. Since Dad died we always try to make sure my mum is with one of us so she’s never on her own, so I hope it’s not lonely for her either.
I love Laura’s writing and can’t wait to read this one! Thanks for the giveaway!
No, I love the holidays. Luckily I live near all my family.

Great comments everyone! Thanks so much for sharing!
Cute interview. Can’t say I’ve seen many people chose Abigail Adams as a personal hero, so that’s all kinds of awesome. Yay for strong women in history!
Thanks for the giveaway op!
Smiles!
Lori
LOL Lori! I admit she might be unusual, but here are two quotes in particular that earn her my admiration:
If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice, or representation.
I desire you would Remember the Ladies, and be more generous and favourable to them than your ancestors.
For its time, her marriage to John was also as true a partnership as their likely was. And both Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson would’ve told you just how outspoken, opinionated, yet likeable she was.
Thanks for all your comments, everyone!
I read the blurb and can’t wait to read it. I love stories that use mythology as a basis. Thanks for the chance.
Awesome! Thanks Vanessa!
I love reading your interviews, Laura, and I’m looking forward to reading NoN. Congrats on another awesome release!
Hmm…I can’t say I’m lonely during the holidays, but more-so when my husband deploys, which has been during the holidays up until a few years ago.
~Sarah Allan
Thanks Sarah! And, yeah, military families like yours have a much different kind of loneliness to deal with.
I am always with family for the holidays so no loneliness:)
