There’s a New GFC Alternative: Linky Followers Giveaway!
As you may know by now, Google is terminating GFC for all non-blogger blogs as of March 1st. Since Paperback Dolls is now operating on WordPress this means we haz a sad. Like many other blogs we’ve been freaking out, because we currently have about 2,000 readers who follow us this way, and while we have been encouraging you to switch over to RSS, we understand that it isn’t for everyone. So, what are we to do?
Thankfully, Rachael over at Parajunkee’s View has found a solution!
A few things from her post: 
“…the guy that runs LinkyTools, those fun linky lists that you see in so many of our blogs, teamed up with a few bloggers and came up with an alternative to GFC – he understands the need for this useful tool, unlike Google. And on top of his useful creation to the GFC competition – he’s made it available for use on blogs that can’t use javascript — ahem WORDPRESS.com – yup, the free one! This is a big step, because before this, WP.com peeps could only use email subscriptions and push RSS feed.
So yes there is now an Alternative to Google Friend Connect! Yes, you too, wordpress people, can have a wonderful follower count on your sidebar! You don’t have to be forced into BLOGGER anymore just because of the industry standard GFC!”
Like Rachael, we understand that this won’t work unless people USE it and we’re not above bribery to get you to at least try it out!

I’m completely with you, Jen! I just don’t understand the need to take it away. I’m hoping that even blogger supported blogs will catch on to the trend and display both so people can use Linky the same way. ;)
