Submitted by on May 26, 2012 – 4:00 am6 Comments

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Cosy Up Book Reviews (originally created by Book Chick City) and runs every Saturday. It’s where we list all the books we desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post.

Author: Eloisa James
Book: The Ugly Duchess
Release: August 28, 2012
Series: Fairy Tales #4

Theodora Saxby is the last woman anyone expects the gorgeous James Ryburn, heir to the Duchy of Ashbrook, to marry. But after a romantic proposal before the prince himself, even practical Theo finds herself convinced of her soon-to-be duke’s passion.

Still, the tabloids give the marriage six months.

Theo would have given it a lifetime…until she discovers that James desired not her heart, and certainly not her countenance, but her dowry. Society was shocked by their wedding; it’s scandalized by their separation.

Now James faces the battle of his lifetime, convincing Theo that he loved the duckling who blossomed into the swan.

And Theo will quickly find that for a man with the soul of a pirate, All’s Fair in Love—or War.

Author: Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Book: Taken by Storm
Release: May 22 2012
Series: Raised by Wolves #3

Bryn knows first-hand that being the alpha of a werewolf pack means making hard decisions, and that being human makes things a thousand times worse. She’s prepared to give up her humanity, but the wolf who promised to Change her is waiting – though for what, Bryn doesn’t know. Still human, she must take her place in the werewolf Senate, the precarious democracy that rules the North American packs. Standing side by side with werewolves who were ancient long before she was ever born is enough of a challenge, but Bryn soon learns that the Senate has been called to deal with a problem: the kind of problem that involves human bodies, a Rabid werewolf, and memories that Bryn, Chase, and the rest of their pack would rather forget. With bodies stacking up and political pressure closing in from all sides, Bryn and her pack are going to have to turn to old enemies and even older friends for help – especially when it starts to look like this time, the monster might be one of their own.

Author: Teresa Grant
Book: Imperial Scandal
Release: March 27, 2012
Series: Charles & Mélanie Fraser #5

Nights filled with lavish balls. . .lush, bucolic afternoons. . .. Removed to glamorous Brussels in the wake of Napoleon’s escape from Elba, Intelligence Agent Malcolm Rannoch and his wife, Suzanne, warily partake in the country’s pleasures. But with the Congress of Vienna in chaos and the Duke of Wellington preparing for battle, the festivities are cut short when Malcolm is sent on a perilous mission that unravels a murderous world of espionage. . .
No one knows what the demure and respectable Lady Julia Ashton was doing at the château where Malcolm and a fellow British spy were ambushed. But now her enigmatic life has been ended by an equally mysterious death. And as the conflict with Napoleon marches toward Waterloo, and Brussels surrenders to bedlam, Suzanne and Malcolm will be plunged into the search for the truth–revealing an intricate labyrinth of sinister secrets and betrayal within which no one can be trusted. . .

So, that’s what’s on my wishlist this week – what’s on yours?

Noa first fell in love with books when she discovered 100 acre wood and its inhabitants. To this day, the last pages of “The House at Pooh Corner” make her cry. In a good way. From“Calvin and Hobbes” to “The Iliad and the Odyssey” and lets not forget “Martha Stewart’s Cupcakes”. Biographies, mysteries, history books and romances all have a place on her bookshelves. Who needs furniture? This 29 year old singleton’s dream is to invent the zero-calorie chocolate. But until that day arrives, she tries to create sweet confections with whatever chocolate she can find. An MA in conflict studies (need a mediator?) means Noa loves a good debate, especially when she wins. If she were in charge, books would be free for everyone.

  • I’m glad you like the meme, but as it was an original meme at BCC and the fact we have decided not to do it any more, I handed it over to Vickie at so your posts should direct peeps to her site. Also, I had button designed specifically (as it says ‘Book Chick City’) so if you could use a different one that would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

Ooh, new Raised by Wolves. I wasn’t in love with the second book in the series, although it was good – I think because it’s so improbable that a human could maintain Alpha status in a werewolf pack (which means, 1. I’m reading a lot of Patricia Briggs, and 2. I’m ignoring the improbability of werewolves themselves!)

Anyway, I want to pick up the third book, and hopefully it’ll go back to being ohmygoshawesome.

I read my first Eloisa James book last year and I loved it.
I agree with Lauren, I didn’t love the second book in the Raised by Wolves series (for different reasons) but I’m still curious how it ends.
