Ali Winters is not having a good day. Her boyfriend left her, everyone in town thinks she’s a thief, and now she’s about to be kicked out of her home. Her only shot at keeping a roof over her head and clearing her name is to beg for help from a police detective who’s as sexy as he is stern….

After a high-profile case goes wrong, Luke Hanover returns to his hometown for some peace and quiet. Instead he finds a bombshell brunette in a heap of trouble. As he helps Ali put her world back together, the pieces of Luke’s own life finally seem to fall into place. Is this the start of a sizzling fling? Or are Luke and Ali on the brink of something big in a little town called Lucky Harbor?

I am a huge Jill Shalvis fan and I LOVE The Lucky Harbor series. It Had To Be You is the seventh book in the series and Shalvis has once again proven she has some serious chops. It Had To Be You fresh and fun. And of course there is a wee bit of angst but really it’s not loaded with it. This is a book every romance reader will want to add to their summer reading list.

Luke Hanover is all ALPHA and totally hot. Jill has a real talent for creating male leads that everyone loves. They are multi-layered leads that heat up the pages. They are impossible to say no to and really why the heck would you even try? Luke is no exception. If you like a man that takes charge without scratching certain body parts you are going to love Luke.

And Ms.Shalvis continues her streak of female leads that don’t annoy me. Because of this I owe her a bottle of her Cab and some double chocolate Milanos. Ali had it rough growing up but it made her tough cookie. Poor girl is having a pretty crappy week and honestly she deserved a good cry in the first few pages. But in great Shalvis style we feel the heroine’s pain but somehow we also laugh out loud, several times.

The great thing about a Lucky Harbor book is there is a cast of characters that I love. I couldn’t imagine not having Sawyer or the gang at the senior center somehow involved in the shenanigans of a Lucky Harbor story. We also get to meet the stars of the next book in the series, Jack and Leah. Jack is a firefighter. Yeah, I know!

So at the end of It Had to Be You, I was truly satisfied. This book made me laugh, grab a tissue, and stand with my head in the freezer more than a few times. I loved it and I hope you do too!

Lil is an avid reader who gave up TV so she could greedily read every book she could get her hands on. In the process she discovered a love for contemporary romance heavily laden with humor. Lil is formerly a True Blood blogger who discovered there is more to the world than her annoying love/hate one-sided relationship with the writers of TB. She credits JR Ward for pulling her from the two dimensional world of TV viewing.
