[The Hunger Games 2]

Please welcome our friend Jeremy from Novel Thoughts!

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

Review: No questions asked – I absolutely loved this book! Even though I loved The Hunger Games, personally I enjoyed his one more. I would describe this book as a “divine uprising enveloped in conspiracy.” From the beginning, Katniss begins continues her life after winning The Hunger Games. It was time for the Quarter Quell Hunger Games for this was the 75th Hunger Games. I was thrown a curve ball as I read this because I didn’t know that the Hunger Games would be brought back into it, which is okay with me. But I never thought I would see Katniss and Peeta in the games for a second time. This book deals with the rebellion of a nation against the government for a chance at a life of freedom without consequences. By the end, I was attached to Katniss again and wanted to see her escape as much as she wanted to escape. So far this book is my favorite one of the year! It kills me to have to wait for Mockingjay but I absolutely cannot wait to read it! District 13 here I come!

Rating: A++

    Thank you for the review :) When I read the novel, I also felt as if I had been thrown a curve ball when the Hunger Games was brought back into it. I don't know why it surprised me, but it did.

    I actually think I liked The Hunger Games better than Catching Fire. Personally, this book started out kind of slow. With The Hunger Games, I sped through it without stopping. With Catching Fire I didn't really start to get into it until the Quarter Quell was announced, and then I was hooked. The loved the ending especially.

  • I agree with you about liking Catching Fire more than The Hunger Games. Everything was so surprising and the ending was phenomenal! Less than four hours to go (for me) until Mockingjay comes out :D

  • awesome review! I didn't think Catching Fire was as good as the hunger games, but I don't mean to say that in a way so it seems like Catching Fire was bad. because it wasn't, at all! I've read it over and over again and each time it doens't seem to bother me that I already know whats going to happen.
