For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

This book is like Twilight with werewolves instead of vamps. It was a little confusing at first because the temperature was always posted at the begining of the chapter. Then I discovered that it was because Sam can only be in human form when the weather is warm (kinda like Edward can only be out when the sky is gray;)). Anyway, aside from the confusion at first I quickly got wrapped up in the *sigh/blush* romance of the whole story. I really liked Sam’s character and loved how I got to see both his and Grace’s points of view at different times through out the book (much better than just a girls POV).

There were some neat characters and some I thought the book could do without (again like the Twilight series). Sam’s wolf family and his father figure, Beck, were very interesting characters. However, Grace’s two BFF’s Rachel and Olivia were hard to follow although, Olivia ended up playing a pretty big part in the plot. The other characters that I had trouble understanding were Grace’s parents. It was like they totally neglected her and paid very little attention to their child. It was somewhat explained by her mother being an artist, but not all creative people disregard their kids so, the artist thing wasn’t the best excuse.

This was not the absolute best book I have read this year BUT, it was pretty darn good. I can’t wait for the next book in the series because I simply MUST find out how Sam and Grace are doing.
