Paperback Dolls Help Give Back – with Operation Paperback!

Is there an escape greater than books? Who doesn’t enjoy curling up in some secret corner with a good mystery, the new installment in that urban fantasy series, a biography or two, a favorite classic or even the latest edition of Time magazine…

Where would we be without those little bundles of joy at the end of a tough day? Now imagine that you don’t have that luxury…

More than that – imagine that you’re far from home, without any of your own things or even a corner that you can call your own, doing the toughest job out there – serving your country. Wouldn’t it be great if someone made sure that you had a book to escape with?

Well, thanks to Operation Paperback – the troops do. Operation Paperback is an organization that has been making sure that troops serving overseas (and VA hospitals) get shipments of books free of charge!

More than that, they get the troops the books they request – with lists that go out to volunteers.

And now the Paperback Dolls would like to help spread the word – with our thanks to Jackie from Literary Escapism who gave us the heads up…

What can you do? Well, visit the Operation Paperback website and they will tell you how to become a volunteer shipper, or, if you prefer – how to make a monetary donation.

Share your books – recycled reading for the troops!

Paperback Dolls is made up of women from different parts of the world, with different backgrounds, different tastes and beliefs that were brought together through a love of reading. We like to think of ourselves as a cyber version of "The View" that focuses on books, authors, and reading. We are proof positive that one common love can unite the most opposite of people and form lasting friendships that introduce other ways of life and perspectives to each other.

This is great! I have a family member serving in Iraq, and much to his surprise, I send books in his monthly care packages. He has standing instructions to pass them on to anyone who wants them when he's finished.
