Paperback Proust and Giveaway: Bare-Naked Lola by Melissa Bourbon Ramirez
Melissa Bourbon, who sometimes answers to her Latina-by-marriage name Misa Ramirez, gave up teaching middle and high school kids in Northern California to write full-time amidst horses and Longhorns in North Texas. She is the marketing director at Entangled Publishing, is the author of the Lola Cruz Mystery series with St. Martin’s Minotaur and Entangled Publishing (Bare Naked Lola hits the streets in April 2012), A Magical Dressmaking Mystery series with NAL, is the co-author of The Tricked-out Toolbox with Tonya Kappes, and has two romantic suspense novels to be released in 2012.

What is your current state of mind?
Frenzied! Always.
What is your favorite occupation (way of spending time)?
Writing, of course! And working for Entangled Publishing, the best publishing company ever!
What historical figure do you most identify with?
The mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
Which living person do you most admire?
Sandra Bullock. She’s smart, funny, generous, socially conscious, classy, has pride, and is a Texan
Who is your favorite fictional hero? Heroine?
I have always loved Scarlett O’Hara. She doesn’t always do the right thing, and she can be diabolical, self-serving, and so dense about love, but she’s eternally optimistic and knows that “tomorrow is another day”. I have a necklace with that quote, in fact
What is your most treasured possession?
Do my lovely red couches count?
Hmm, not sure I really have a treasured possession. I guess I would say my wedding band, which was my grandmother’s 25th wedding anniversary ring. I love it, and never take it off.
When and where were you happiest?
Now!
What is the trait you most deplore (hate) in yourself?
Like a lot of women, I turn to food when I’m stressed. I wish I turned to exercise. Would be so much healthier!
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Self-centeredness and the diva syndrome. I’m very much a doer. My family calls me Pioneer Woman. So I don’t like it when people seem unable to help themselves.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Too many mochas paid at too high a price, but I’ve learned to make them myself with milk, powdered Ghirardelli chocolate, and a nifty CO2 whipped cream dispenser.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’d definitely be more inherently organized, both in my brain and in my life.
How would you like to die?
Well, if I have to die, I’ll choose old, still healthy, and in my sleep, completely content, with lots of happy children and grandchildren around me.
What is your motto (words you live by or that mean a lot to you)?
I’m with Scarlett O’Hara, mentioned above. “After all, tomorrow is another day.” Love that sentiment and think it often, particularly when it’s a bad day.
Thank you for having me at Paperback Dolls!
Going undercover is second nature for Private Investigator Lola Cruz, but she’s out of her league when the case of a murdered Royals Courtside Dancer leads her to a local nudist resort. Parading around the sidelines of Sacramento’s professional basketball scene in a barely-there cheerleading outfit is one thing—but parading around in nothing but smile? If she has any chance of hiding this from her traditional family and on-again/off-again boyfriend Jack, she’s going to have a lot more than her duct tape bra and killer dance moves to keep under wraps….Add to | Buy the Book: | Barnes & Noble
