ARC Review- Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr
The Summer King is missing; the Dark Court is bleeding; and a stranger walks the streets of Huntsdale, his presence signifying the deaths of powerful fey.
Aislinn tends to the Summer Court, searching for her absent king and yearning for Seth. Torn between his new queen and his old love, Keenan works from afar to strengthen his court against the coming war. Donia longs for fiery passion even as she coolly readies the Winter Court for battle. And Seth, sworn brother of the Dark King and heir to the High Queen, is about to make a mistake that could cost his life.
Love, despair, and betrayal ignite the Faery Courts, and in the final conflict, some will win . . . and some will lose everything.
The thrilling conclusion to Melissa Marr’s New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely series will leave readers breathless.
In this final installment in Melissa Marr’s dark faery tale readers are treated to some of the author’s best story telling yet! For those that have followed the enchantingly addictive and alluring characters in the Wicked Lovely series, you will be captivated and consumed by the places Marr takes you in Darkest Mercy and rewarded for reading by a true gem of a conclusion.
Since the beginning of the series we have followed the threads of Aislinn, Seth, Keenan and Donia. Finally we see where the journey has taken them and how necessary the struggles were for these characters to grow into such strong roles. By far, I think the growth of Aislinn and Keenan was the most poignant and at times gut-wrenching. With Aislinn, it was watching her acceptance of her role as Summer Queen and her ownership of the court and its members. Watching her grow into such radiance was almost magical to read. And with Keenan, it was seeing him evolve into the kind of guy that was worthy of both Donia and Aislinn’s love and respect.
My favorite storyline belongs to Kings of the Dark Court, Niall and Irial. Right away (chapter 1), we see that things are looking grim for both of these characters and it was heartbreaking to read at times.
The way the book is written really pulls you into the story and allows readers to feel everything right along with the characters… both the good and the bad. It’s not just the story and characters that pulled me in; the descriptions really paint the scenes so clearly that I could visualize everything going on and the story began to play in my mind like stills from a movie. With such emotion and beautiful imagery, it was nearly impossible to tear myself away from Darkest Mercy and I read through it in one sitting.
Each story in this series has been meticulously woven so that they each played an important part in creating the stunning story tapestry and Marr has tied up all loose threads…meaning this is the most brilliantly perfect ending.
Fighting, loving, conflict, order, passion, betrayal, life, death and so many surprises….this was an amazing book and has left me not sad that the series is over but completely satisfied and thrilled to have read such a magical story!

You know, this book kinda slipped my radar a little bit with the holidays and everything… so when I sat down to read Darkest Mercy, it was exactly the kind of escape I needed.
I really love Marr's style and am eager to read her next work.
Day, you made me one jealous doll! Can't wait to get this book – great review!
Another jealous Doll over here! This is high on my list of books I can't wait to read, too! I'm glad that it's a great conclusion, because although I've really enjoyed the Wicked Lovely series up to now, I feel like it's been a little uneven up to this point. I definitely have favorites among the books that have already been written, and ones that I didn't enjoy as much. Can't wait to read this one after your great review, though!
Wow, right now I'm extra excited to read the book after I've read your great review and positive thoughts about it.
Glad to know that the final book is up. But here we still have to wait till they finish translating it.
